Membership

The Civilian Review Board is composed of seven citizen members. One member also represents the board on the Police Commission.

Term, Appointment and Authority

The citizen members, who are appointed by the City Council, serve three-year terms. The Civilian Review Board authority is in Eugene Code (EC) 2.013 and 2.240 and the Eugene Charter 15-A(2).

Description

The seven-member Civilian Review Board provides valuable input about the fairness and diligence of the police investigation process, with the goal of making the system of police accountability more transparent and increasing public confidence in the manner that police conduct their work.
