The Mayor’s Art Show (MAS) is part of a larger celebration of contemporary visual art, artists and the City’s public spaces. MAS celebrates local artists, art production and champions the visual arts. MAS recognizes the accomplishments of artists who are committed to enriching their communities through visual arts. Our intention is to cultivate diversity, equity, and access to the visual arts and artists. Curator Statement

It is a great honor for me to curate the Mayor’s Art Show and work with this year’s jurors, Kum Ja Lee, Sarah Ciampa and Shawn Goddard. I want to thank them for their expertise and careful attention to this artists’ work, and for making the hard decision of choosing the Juror’s Choice Award.

I believe the Mayor’s Art Show is a unique and robust exhibition. When I was invited to first curate the show, one of my intentions was to blur the lines between what is considered fine art, craft, contemporary art and traditional art. This practice promotes diversity in artists, materials and representation. The 46 pieces in the show are excellent examples of the breadth of artists' works ranging from video to public art installation, and they represent the eclectic variety of artists and art practices in our community. - Chanin Santiago.
